9.9.2 Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Indicator Troubleshooting

Check radiator coolant level,
fan belt tension, radiator cap,
thermostat, and for plugged
condition or debris on radiator.
Engine coolant
temperature warning
indicator stays ON
while operating.
Repair as needed.
Disconnect harness at
temperature switch. Indicator
light should go out.
Check connections at
temperature switch and back
of instrument cluster.
If OK
Repair as needed.
Replace engine coolant
temperature switch and
retest system.
If OK
If OK
Not

OK
Check circuit for grounded
wire 15 (LT BLU).
If grounded, repair wire.
Refer to Section 9.7.6,
“Electrical Schematic
(Console/Stabilizer and
Engine Harnesses).”
Replace instrument cluster.
If circuit tests OK

Before troubleshooting any
electrical circuit, ALWAYS
begin by checking the
following:
1. Fuses.
2. Battery for proper charge.
3. All connections relating to
circuit are clean and tight.
4. Check instrument cluster
bulbs for proper function.
